Specifically designed to stretch under load for maximum performance, an ARB snatch strap is a very effective method of extracting a bogged or immobilized 4wd when a second vehicle is present

Length: 9m / 30 feet.
Width: 60mm / 2 1/8" feet
Material: 100 percent nylon,
Elasticity: Stretch (genuine) 20 percent.

The kinetic energy generated by the elasticity aids with the recovery itself, while at the same time reducing the likelihood of vehicle damage.
Reinforced Eyes. For vehicle recovery, a snatch strap is more suitable than a tow strap. All ARB snatch straps are woven and fabricated to ARB specifications, and tested by a NATA approved laboratory. 4WD vehicle recovery is an inescapable element of driving off road. Preparing yourself for the inevitable before heading to the backcountry will ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for you and your passengers. ARB's 4x4 recovery gear is engineered and manufactured to the highest standards, making it ideal for recreational use as well as competition. A snatch strap, as the name suggests, is used to ‘snatch’ a vehicle that can no longer maintain forward momentum under its own power. ie. Bogged or unable to climb due to loss of traction, swamped in a water crossing, stuck on an obstacle or loss of power. A snatch strap is an elastic recovery device that stores kinetic energy and has the ability to stretch to a significant degree and return to its original length. This elasticity combined with the momentum of the recovery vehicle creates a ‘snatching’ effect that can extract a vehicle without shock loading the attachment points or vehicle. Specifically designed to stretch under load for maximum performance, an ARB snatch strap is a highly effective method of extracting a bogged or immobilised 4WD when a second vehicle is present. The unique design of the strap allows it to stretch and return to its original length, aiding recovery and great reducing the likelihood of vehicle damage. This ability to stretch is a distinction between a snatch strap and a tow strap, ARB snatch straps are elastic when under load whereas a tow strap is not, the benefits of which are twofold. Firstly, the kinetic energy generated by the elasticity actually aids the recovery itself, and secondly, the elasticity greatly reduces the likelihood of vehicle damage during recovery. The enormous weight of each 4x4 and the weighted force of whatever caused the immobilization puts enormous strain on the point where the straps are attached, and without some elasticity, there is a substantial risk of damaging the vehicle. For vehicle recovery, a snatch strap is more suitable than a tow strap. When choosing a snatch strap for use, it is recommended that the strap has a minimum breaking strength (MBS) of between two to three times the vehicle’s gross vehicle mass (GVM). When using a snatch strap to recover a stranded vehicle, the MBS should be suited to the GVM of the lighter of the two vehicles involved in the recovery process. If the GVM is not stated on the identification plate or registration certificate of the vehicle, consult the owner’s handbook or vehicle manufacturer. It is important that the correctly rated snatch strap is used. If a strap with a too heavy breaking strength is used on a light vehicle, the desired stretch may not be achieved and more stress will be placed on the recovery points. When the only thing preventing your vehicle from imminent danger is a narrow fabric strap, nothing but the best will do. Don't trust your vehicle to substandard recovery gear that could jeopardize your safety and your vehicle. Likewise, make sure you're using appropriate equipment for your situation. The old adage "the right tool for the job" can certainly be applied to vehicle recovery. For every situation, there is an article of recovery gear specifically designed to handle the task - from snatch straps to exhaust jacks. ARB snatch straps are designed to stretch and return to their original length, aiding recovery and greatly reducing the likelihood of vehicle damage. The 17,600lb model is recommended for most 4WD vehicles with the 33,000lb strap better suited to heavier applications. Part no. ARB705LB Min. breaking strength: 8,000kg/17,600lb Length: 9m / 30 feets Width: 60mm / 2 1/8" Elasticity: Stretch (genuine) 20% Material: 100% nylon Reinforced eyes: yes Eye & seam protector sleeves: yes All ARB snatch straps are woven and fabricated to ARB pecifications, and tested by a NATA approved laboratory. The 17,500 lb model is recommended for most 4WD vehicles, with the 24,000 lb & 33,000 lb straps better suited to heavier applications. ARB supplies snatch straps in 8000kg (17,500lb), 11,000kg (24,000lb) and 15,000kg (33,000lb) minimum breaking strength (MBS). ARB snatch straps are manufactured from 100% nylon webbing and feature reinforced eyes for additional durability. Persons intending to use the strap must ensure that the strap is not damaged and in a usable condition. The strap’s strength and stretch are reduced when the strap is saturated. An ARB recovery damper, heavy bag or blanket must be draped over the strap during use to reduce any unintentional rebound of the strap. While a recovery is being performed, only the persons involved in the recovery should be in either of the vehicles. All other persons should be situated at a safe distance (1.5 times the length of the strap is recommended) from either of the vehicles involved in the recovery process and to the side of the line of the recovery. Persons involved in the recovery process must: a) Be kept at a safe distance (1.5 times the length of the strap is recommended) from either of the vehicles involved in the recovery process, to the side of the line of the recovery. b) NEVER situate themselves within the path of the vehicle performing the recovery. WARNING Always follow product instructions. It is important to correctly attach the vehicle recovery strap to a motor vehicle. A standard tow ball or vehicle tie down point is not designed for this purpose and may result in the strap or a vehicle component detaching from a motor vehicle and striking and seriously injuring or killing a person. Only attach the strap to a vehicle recovery point or device that is suitably rated for use with the strap. Incorrect use has previously resulted in serious injury and death. The ARB snatch block is a formidable piece of recovery equipment that should be included in every recovery kit.An ARB snatch allows you to retrieve loads that are double a winch’s capacity by reducing the load on the winch by half, and facilitating winching from varying angles when straight ahead isn’t the best option. ARB snatch blocks feature side plates that sit snug against the pulley, eliminating the possibility of the winch cable becoming trapped in between. And the groove on the pulley itself tapers down to the centre, allowing for a variety of cable sizes to be used and ensuring the cable is seated securely, minimising lateral movement. When you have to perform a vehicle recovery, it's important to have all your equipment easily accessible. ARB's recovery kits incorporate all the necessary gear into a handy storage bag, and we can also make up a custom kit to suit your specific requirements. The Weekender Recovery Kit brings together components for snatch recovery, including a cotton canvas bag, an 8000kg snatch strap, two 4.75T bow shackles, and a pair of gloves. D shackles, tow hooks, drag chains... as the experienced off road driver knows, there's a multitude of supplementary 4x4 equipment that makes vehicle recovery far easier. The importance of D shackles in particular cannot be underestimated for vehicle recovery, indeed for most 4x4s, the D shackle is how you attach the strap to the vehicle. We have a range of D shackles that cater for the largest heavy duty trucks to the smallest SUV. While ARB’s winch cables and straps are exceptionally strong, it is essential that safety precautions such as fitting a recovery damper are taken to avoid injury in the event of a failure. One such precaution is the fitting of a recovery damper prior to a load being applied. In the unlikely event of a wire rope or strap failure, the recovery damper will absorb most of the energy in the cable or strap, significantly reducing the recoil. As recovery dampers are now mandatory accessories for most 4WD competitions, the ARB damper exceeds minimum competition weight requirements. Manufactured from heavy duty vinyl with a silver reflective tape for visibility at night and Velcro to reduce slipping, ARB recovery dampers are a reliable and durable choice. ARB products are sold and serviced through authorized distributors worldwide. Our staff and distributors are 4x4 enthusiasts, and have a clear understanding of the demanding conditions our products are expected to work in.
